Would You Use Audi's Piloted Parking System?

Last month at CES in Las Vegas, Audi showcased the Audi piloted parking system that will self-park your car and even pick you up with the help of an iPhone and parking garages of the future that have computers to communicate with the car.

No, we're not talking about the cars that we have now that will help you parallel park. The Audi piloted parking system goes beyond that. We may have to tell valet drivers of the future to find a different job.

If you haven't seen it yet, here's a video demonstration of this new system...

Over at AudiZine there's an interesting thread with a few questions and observations that I also had about the piloted parking. I'm also wondering just how many parking garages would employ this type of technology because I'm guessing it would be pretty costly for Audi, unless this is technology that's already in the works anyway.

I could see myself using this in situations where I'm running late for an appointment and don't have time to park the car, or in crowded downtown areas where parking is hard to find and I don't feel like driving around for 30 minutes to find a parking spot.

What about you? Would you use Audi's piloted parking system? Share your thoughts via comments below...

I'm going to go ahead and say "no" to answer your question, but I would like to explain why...

The whole car automation thing is really cool, and I would love to eventually use these integrations. Google is even developing a car that drives itself. I believe the technology is out there; we just have to harness the opportunity.

The self-parking car is a great idea. I would love for Audi to come up with a fun name to sell the feature. Maybe something along the lines of valet. We'll see!
